Cincinnati police said 17 people were shot dead in three separate incidents early Sunday morning – with potential casualties.

Ten people were shot dead in a shooting in the city’s Over-the-Rhine neighborhood alone, two were reported dead, Assistant Police Chief Paul Newdigate told the newsletter.

In the Walnut Hills neighborhood, about a block from Harriet’s trial store, three people were shot.  In the Avandale neighborhood, four people were shot, two of whom were pronounced dead, police sources said.

News outlets reported that the shootings took place within 60 to 90 minutes, but police official Nudegate said they “appear to be separate independent incidents but at the same time such shootings in different parts of the city are horrific and tragic.”

Police have not yet received any evidence as to the real cause of the incident.

‘An extremely violent night in the city of Cincinnati.  Probably 17 victims, four cases which are in critical condition at the moment, why?  This is going to be the question, ‘said Newidgate.

In July, Enquire reported that the city had seen an increase in killings and genocide from gun violence in the first half of the year compared to the same period in 2015
