Terrible train accident in Pakistan’s Sindh province. Head-on collision between Millat Express and Sir Syed Express. At least 30 have been killed and more than 50 injured so far. The death toll is expected to rise further.
It is learned that the accident took place in Darki of Ghotki district of Sindh province on Monday morning. There was a head-on collision between the Sargodha-bound Millat Express from Karachi and the Sir Syed Express from Rawalpindi. The accident took place near Raiti station. According to administration sources, 15 to 20 people are still stuck on the Millat Express. The local administration has started the rescue operation. The trapped passengers are being taken out by cutting the bogie of the train. That is what Ghotki SSP Umar Tufel said.
The injured have been admitted to different hospitals in Ghotki, Dharki, Obero and Mirpur. Osman Abdullah, the deputy commissioner of Ghotki, said the rescue operation was facing some difficulties as the bogies of the train overturned. However, the administration has tried its best.
