Anurag Thakur and Ranveer Singh Dubai Expo 2020

Anurag Thakur, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, met actor Ranveer Singh on Monday at the India Pavilion at Dubai Expo 2020. Thakur and the actor talked about the global influence of the Indian media and entertainment sector.

Thakur praised the Indian population in Dubai as the country’s true marketing ambassadors, saying, “The India Pavilion has been a major crowd grabber with 1.7 million visits.” The country is commemorating 75 years of independence, and celebrations are taking place not only in India, but also around the world.”

The minister also praised films for their contribution to India’s image as a soft power. “India is a place of narrative, and the film industry has had a significant impact on people from other countries who identify India for its films. The goal is to make India the world’s most content-rich subcontinent. This has the potential to create millions of jobs in India as well as content for the rest of the world, according to Thakur.

“Indian content is on the verge of making its mark on the global scene.” Indian entertainment will skyrocket on a worldwide scale. “Our stories connect with people and cross cultural boundaries, and Indians living overseas connect with India through cinema,” Ranveer Singh remarked.

The minister and Ranveer Singh both visited the India Pavilion at the Dubai Expo 2020. Earlier in the day, Anurag Thakur met with Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), to discuss Dubai’s objectives for becoming a favoured tourist destination tourism destination of the world.

“During these epidemic years, Indians have opted to go to Dubai over western capitals like London,” the minister remarked.

“Dubai’s success has been made possible by determined leadership with a clear goal,” Kazim Said. During COVID, the CEO discussed Dubai Authority’s strategy for when the city closes in March 2020. Authorities implemented an entirely new strategy, enforcing limitations and norms. Vaccinations and PCR tests for travellers were made necessary, and Dubai was the first city to open its doors to tourists.
