In the midst of Russia’s assault on Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin tonight.
Following Russia’s invasion on Ukraine, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin tonight.
According to ANI, the Prime Minister is expected to meet with his Russian counterpart tonight, after the country launched an attack on Ukraine.
PM Modi is also meeting with senior cabinet ministers to address the economic impact of the Russia-Ukraine issue as well as methods to offset the impact of rising crude oil prices. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, and Rajnath Singh, the Defence Minister, have already arrived at his residence. The meeting will also be attended by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and other officials.
This comes only hours after Ukraine’s envoy to India, Igor Polikha, asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for help in dealing with the Russian invasion. Igor Polikha, urging Prime Minister Modi to take action to resolve the conflict, stated, “India has a special relationship with Russia, and New Delhi may play a more active role in handling the situation.”
“We urge Prime Minister Narendra Modi to contact Russian President Vladimir Putin and our President Volodymyr Zelensky as soon as possible,” Ukrainian Ambassador Igor Polikha stated.
“I’m not sure how many world leaders Putin will listen to, but Modi ji’s status gives me optimism. Putin, because of his commanding voice, would at the very least consider it. We anticipate that the Indian government will take a much more favourable stance “He stated.
