New Delhi: The 10-team Indian Premier League 2022 will kick off on March 26 in Mumbai and conclude on May 29. At the start of the tournament, a crowd of around 40% is permitted.
After the governing council meeting on Thursday, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel informed PTI, “The IPL will start on Saturday, March 26.”
There will be 74 matches played in Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium and Brabourne Stadium, as well as Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil field and Gahunje Stadium in Pune, thanks to the addition “Spectators would be allowed according to Maharashtra government rules, with a cap of 40% at start,” he said of the two new clubs, the Lucknow Supergiants and Gujarat Titans.
“It might be a full house at the business end if the COVID problem is kept under control and the number of cases drops,” a source said.
There has been no decision on play-offs, but the final is likely to be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
