Ganesh Acharya, a popular Bollywood choreographer who has given the country several foot-tapping dance numbers, is in serious legal jeopardy.
According to a complaint brought by a co-dancer in 2020, the choreographer has been charged with sexual harassment, stalking, and voyeurism.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Allu Arjun’s hit track Oo Antava for Pushpa: The Rise was choreographed by the choreographer lately.
The Mumbai police, according to sources, have filed a charge sheet against the choreographer and his helper. According to the charge document, the choreographer and his helper are accused of violating the following articles of the Indian Penal Code. He faces charges of 354-a (sexual harassment), 354-c (voyeurism), 354-d (stalking), 509 (insulting the modesty of any lady), 323 (causing harm), and 504 (intentional insult with the aim to cause harm) provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention to commit an offense).
According to a report, Oshiwara police officer Sandeep Shinde, who examined the aforementioned complaint, disclosed that the charge sheet was submitted in the Metropolitan magistrate’s court in Andheri.
According to reports, when the assistant choreographer was approached, he was informed that the charge sheet had been submitted. Ganesh, on the other hand, has remained silent about the charges. He denied the allegations, calling them “false and baseless.”
The co-dancer said that Ganesh harassed her after she declined his sexual approaches, as mentioned in the charge sheet and the filed complaint. She even accused the choreographer of making inappropriate remarks, groping her, and showing her pornography.
She also said that he informed her in May 2019 that if she wanted to succeed, she needed to have sex with him. In six months, her membership in the Indian Film and Television Choreographer Association was terminated.
The Mumbai police had launched a FIR based on the complaint made by that assistant choreographer earlier in 2020. Ganesh’s legal team claimed to have filed a defamation lawsuit against her.
