[India], Mumbai (Maharastra), March 24 (ANI): According to authorities, a professor at Mumbai’s RK College was arrested on Thursday for reportedly defrauding around 12 students under the guise of offering them admission to the college.
The accused also maintains a private tutoring centre in the Appawada neighbourhood, according to the police.
“The accused (professor) promised admission to B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) programmes in exchange for Rs 1.5 lakh per student.” He had also gathered all of the original documents. He did not provide any college admittance to any of his students. Prasad Pitle, Inspector (Crime), Kaur police station, said, “We have lodged the case under IPC section 420.”
The defendant has been placed in police detention until March 25.
After students reported that the accused was refusing to return their original documents and money, the problem was brought to light. (ANI)
