Jon Batiste took home the most awards at the Grammy Awards 2022, winning five out of eleven nominations. Olivia Rodrigo won three awards, including the award for best new artist. Through a pre-recorded video address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made an expected appearance.
The MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosted the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. The Grammy Awards ceremony was held in Sin City for the first time.
The ceremony was originally scheduled for January 31st, but due to the Omicron strain of the coronavirus and the resulting surge in Covid-19 cases, it had to be postponed. Except for this year, the Grammys are normally very predictable, unlike other prizes.
The Grammy Awards honour musical artists, composers, and albums each year. Since 1959, they have been held every year. This year’s categories were increased from 84 to 86, which was an increase over last year’s 84 categories.
Jon Batiste had the most nominations, 11 to be exact, going into the competition. Doja Cat, H.E.R., and Justin Bieber followed Batiste with eight nominations each.
With five prizes, including Album of the Year for We Are, Batiste emerged as the big winner. Rodrigo won three awards, including the best new artist award. Silk Sonic, which consists of singer Bruno Mars and rapper Anderson, won Grammys for “Leave the Door Open” in the Record of the Year and Song of the Year categories.
Through a pre-recorded video address, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made a surprise appearance during the ceremony. During the Russian invasion of his country, which resulted in a humanitarian crisis, Zelenskyy has been praised for his bravery and leadership. In his impassioned message to the world, he called attention to the problem.
“It’s the war. “What’s more diametrically opposed to music than the stillness of wrecked towns and murdered people,” he said, before continuing, Instead of shooting stars, our kids drew swooping rockets. Over 400 children were hurt, with 153 of them dying. We’ll never see them draw, either. We don’t get to select who lives and who dies in eternal silence because of the war. Instead of tuxedos, our musicians don body armour. They sing to the sick and injured. “In hospitals,” she says.
He urged people who were listening to discuss the battle. “Say what is on your mind concerning war. On your social media platforms. On television. Please assist us in any manner you can. Any. “But not silence,” he stated emphatically.
