The United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken, tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday and will transition to a virtual work schedule, according to the State Department.
“The Secretary has been fully vaccinated and fortified against the virus and is only experiencing mild symptoms,” department said in a statement..
Blinken hasn’t seen President Joe Biden in person in several days, and Biden isn’t regarded a close contact, according to the report.
Blinken’s long-awaited address on China policy, slated for Thursday, will no longer be delivered, according to spokesman Ned Price.
“He looks forward to returning to the Department and resumeing his full duties and trips as soon as feasible,” according to the statement.
On Saturday evening, Blinken was among the guests who crammed into a Washington hotel for the annual White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
The comedian who introduced Biden, Trevor Noah, remarked that the meal was a “super-spreader” event.
