Suresh Raina Bid farewell to domestic cricket. South Africa, Sri Lanka and UAE T20 leagues no longer play in IPL
Raina will play in the Road Safety World series starting September 10
Suresh Raina, who was not selected by the franchise in the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) qualifiers.
He said he wants to play cricket for two or three years. Uttar Pradesh cricket has some exciting youngsters coming through the ranks who are promising. I have already taken my No Objection Certificate (NOC) from Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association (UPCA). I have informed BCCI Secretary Jai Shah and Vice-President Rajeev Shukla about my decision,” Raina said in a statement.
He will not be seen playing for Uttar Pradesh in the upcoming domestic season. Raina may bid farewell to the right-handed IPL but will play in the T20 leagues in South Africa, Sri Lanka and the UAE.

“I will play in the road safety series. T20 franchises in South Africa, Sri Lanka and UAE are in touch. But I am yet to take a decision,” said Raina, who has been training at the RPL Cricket Ground in Ghaziabad for the past one year.
Raina retired from international cricket on August 15, 2020, less than an hour after MS Dhoni announced his retirement from cricket. Raina was part of the World Cup winning team under Dhoni.
He briefly held the captaincy of the team. Raina, who scored a century on his Test debut, has amassed 5615 runs in 226 ODIs and 1605 runs in 78 T20Is for India. He is also the first Indian to score centuries in all three formats and his century was scored outside India.
Raina represented India in 18 Tests, 226 ODIs and 78 T20Is during his 13-year international career.
