Suresh Raina, a former cricketer, is expected to make his commentary debut in the IPL 2022, and will be seen providing his observations throughout the season. Apart from Raina, Ravi Shastri is another prominent figure expected to return to the T20 league.
His tenure as Team India’s head coach came to a conclusion in November 2021.
Raina will work for Star Sports, the T20 league’s official broadcaster, according to Jagran.com. Raina, also known as Mr. IPL, went unsold during the two-day mega-auction in February. Surprisingly, none of the teams requested that his name be included in the expedited procedure.
During the two-day event, his name was only mentioned once. Raina, who was formerly the league’s leading run-scorer, has 5528 runs in the IPL. He has 1 century and 39 half-centuries under his belt. Suresh Raina Crickter was a four-time IPL champion during his time with Chennai Super Kings. He was the Yellow Army’s former vice-captain and commanded the team in the absence of MS Dhoni.
In 2016 and 2017, the 35-year-old captained Gujarat Lions in the Indian Premier League. In 2016, they had advanced to the second round. Raina has not retired from professional cricket and can still be signed as a substitute player by any of the franchises. Shastri, on the other hand, will return to the commentary box after 5 years. He rejoined Team India’s backroom staff as an head coach in July 2017 and has been away from commentary since then.
His tenure as head coach came to an end in November 2021. Shastri is a well-known pundit with over two decades of experience.
According to a report on Jagran.com, the former India all-rounder will provide analysis in Hindi. Shastri, a seasoned English pundit, is now preparing for a new challenge. The IPL 2022 season will run from March 26 to May 29. The tournament’s league phase will be held in several locations in Maharashtra. The location of the playoff games has yet to be determined.
