The CBI will investigate for the sake of justice and to find out the truth. In the interest of justice, the investigation into the Bogtui case has been handed over to the CBI.
Everyone has to cooperate. The CBI will investigate and submit a report. The court announced the verdict in the self-motivated case. As a result of the High Court judgment, the SIT will not be able to conduct any further investigation. The detainees will have to be handed over to the CBI.
Several public interest litigation cases have been filed in the Calcutta High Court over the brutal incident at Bogtui village in Rampurhat. The plaintiffs had sought a CBI inquiry, claiming that an impartial inquiry was not possible with the state’s investigating agency.
Giving instructions on the same day, the Chief Justice said that the incident of burning of eight people in a house last Monday has had a serious impact on the public. The Chief Justice also said that an impartial inquiry into the incident and speedy punishment of the culprits was needed to restore public confidence in the police, the courts and the rule of law. Last Wednesday, the Calcutta High Court had directed the Central Forensic Experts to collect samples in the Rampurhat case.
