Election 2022 Voting LIVE: On Sunday morning, voters in 59 Assembly constituencies across 16 districts in Uttar Pradesh began casting ballots.

Polling began at 7:00 a.m. and will end at 6:00 p.m. This is the third round of the state’s Assembly elections, which will be held in seven rounds. In this phase, there are 627 candidates in the running, with over 2.15 crore individuals eligible to vote.

The Karhal assembly seat, which is being contested by Samajwadi Party head Akhilesh Yadav, will also go to the polls in the third phase on Sunday. S P Singh Baghel, a Union minister, is the BJP’s candidate for the seat.
On Friday, campaigning for the third phase of the assembly elections came to a conclusion, with senior party leaders making one last push to win voters.
In this phase, there are 627 candidates in the running, with over 2.15 crore individuals eligible to vote. Hathras, Firozabad, Etah, Kasganj, Mainpuri, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Etawah, Auraiya, Kanpur Dehat, Kanpur Nagar, Jalaun, Jhansi, Lalitpur, Hamirpur, and Mahoba are among the districts where voting will take place.

BJP’s Satish Mahana (Maharajpur in Kanpur) and Ramvir Upadhaya (Sadabad in Hathras) are among the major candidates in this round, as is Louise Khurshid, who is running on the Congress’ ticket from Farrukhabad Sadar. Salman Khurshid’s wife, Louise Khurshid, is a senior Congressman.
Former IPS officer Asim Arun is running for the BJP in Kannauj Sadar, while Uttar Pradesh minister Ramnaresh Agnihotri is also running in this phase.
The BJP won 49 of the 59 seats in the 2017 elections, while the SP only got nine. The Congress won one seat, while the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) was left empty-handed. On Sunday, voting will begin at 7 a.m. and last until 6 p.m.
