In connection with their alleged misbehaviour with a journalist, the Andheri Magistrate Court has issued summonses to Bollywood actor Salman Khan and his bodyguard.
In a petition brought by journalist Ashok Pandey in 2019, a Magistrate court has summoned Salman to appear on April 5. According to ANI, the actor has been charged under IPC sections 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace) and 506 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace) (criminal intimidation).
In April of this year, a journalist named Ashok Pandey said that he and a cameraperson attempted to capture Khan as he was cycling. The journalist said that the actor’s security gave him permission to videotape him. Salaman Khan allegedly became enraged and ordered his security to thrash him, according to Pandey. He went on to say that his phone was also snatched.
The journalist went on to say that when he went to the DN Nagar police station, his appeal was dismissed because no offence had been committed.
“The matter was referred to D N Nagar police station for investigation under section 202 of the CrPC (Postponement of issue of the process), and the police have informed that offences under sections 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code have been made out against accused persons,” said magistrate R R Khan.
According to the magistrate, the summons was issued based on “self-speaking material on record, positive police report, and other record information.” According to him, the claims in the complaint’s prima facie substance are adequate to support the claim, and the processes are ongoing thus valid.
The court has begun a process in the matter after much delay due to COVID-19. Ashok Pandey expressed his gratitude to the court for taking notice of his complaint.
