Adah Sharma criticised for ‘who wore it better’ post featuring Bappi Lahiri: ‘This is so disrespectful’
Adah Sharma was chastised for a Facebook post in which she inquired if the late Bappi Lahiri or herself wore it better. The 69-year-old singer-composer passed away earlier this month.
Actress Adah Sharma shared a photo collage of herself and late composer-singer Bappi Lahiri on Facebook. A picture of Bappi wearing his signature gold jewellery was on the left, and a picture of Adah with many gold rings and chains was on the right. Her caption stated, “Who wore it better?”
The tweet received a lot of backlash online, with many people calling it “in extremely bad taste.” “Don’t compare yourself to a legend for the sake of 5 seconds of fame,” one Facebook user wrote. Another user said, “This is so insulting.”
“Comparing for the sake of amusement is one thing, but after someone’s death? Sorry, but I thought your movies were crap, but it appears you have an even trashier upbringing and personality,” read one comment.
Bappi Lahiri, who popularised disco music in Bollywood during the 1980s and 1990s, died on February 15 at Mumbai’s CritiCare Hospital. After his son Bappa Lahiri flew to Mumbai from Los Angeles, he was cremated at the Pawan Hans Crematorium.
He was admitted to the hospital for a month and was released the day before his death.
“However, his health began to deteriorate on Tuesday, and his family requested that a doctor come to their home. He was taken to a hospital.
He was suffering from a variety of ailments. “He died shortly before midnight due to OSA (obstructive sleep apnea),” said Dr Deepak Namjoshi, the hospital’s director.
Adah made her Bollywood debut in 2008, starring in Vikram Bhatt’s horror thriller 1920. She began her acting career in Hindi films such as Hasee Toh Phasee and Phhir before moving to the South. S/O Satyamurthy, Kshanam, and Kalki are some of the Telugu films in which she has appeared.
In 2019, she made her Tamil film debut in Charlie Chaplin 2. Her filmography also includes one Kannada film, Rana Vikrama.
