A wall fell at a salt mill in Gujarat’s Morbi district on Wednesday, killing at least 12 people and injuring 20 more. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have both offered their condolences.
On Wednesday in Gujarat’s Morbi district, at least 12 workers were murdered in a horrific tragedy. A wall fell while working at a salt mill in the Halvad GIDC district of Morbi, crushing the hapless workers. The administration had first confirmed the deaths of 12 persons. At the same moment, 20 other persons in serious condition were saved.
Three other workers are believed to be buried beneath the rubble. Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered his sympathies shortly after the catastrophe.
According to the district magistrate of Morbi, the Sagar Salt Factory in Halvad industrial area has been packing salt in bags since this morning. The wall suddenly fell at that point. It crushed around 20 to 30 workers. The death of twelve of them has been confirmed. The remains were recovered from the administration using a JCB equipment. Brijesh Merza, Gujarat’s labour and employment minister and a local MLA, said, “Every effort is being made to rescue people trapped.”
“What happened when a wall collapsed in Morbi is tragic,” the Prime Minister tweeted. During this difficult moment, I send my condolences to the departed families. I wish the injured person a quick recovery. The local government is assisting the victims in every way they can .
‘In addition, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stated that the National Relief Fund will give Rs 3 lakh apiece to the relatives of the deceased workers. The Gujarat government has established a special compensation package worth Rs 4 lakh for the deceased’s relatives. Amit Shah, the Union Home Minister, also offered his sorrow.
