Twitter The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has summoned India’s communications director for failing to submit an action taken report against comedian Kunal Kamra, who had posted a “doctored” video of a boy singing a patriotic song for Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his visit to Germany earlier this month.
PM Modi allegedly changed a patriotic song (‘Hey Janmabhoomi Bharat’) that the boy sung with one about inflation (‘Mehengayi daayan khaaye jaat hain’) in a claimed video of his contact with the child in Germany.
The microblogging site’s top executive has been summoned to testify before the child rights commission on Wednesday.
Modi allegedly substituted a patriotic song (‘Hey Janmabhoomi Bharat’) that the boy sung to the PM with one about inflation (‘Mehengayi daayan khaaye jaat hain’) in a claimed video of Modi’s contact with the child in Germany. The NCPCR took action against Kamra shortly after for tweeting the video. The child rights panel stated in a letter to Twitter on Tuesday, “In this regard, a letter dated 05.05.2022 was addressed to your good offices, requesting an ATR (action taken report) in the instant complaint within 7 days of receipt of the letter. However, the Commission has yet to receive such an ATR.”
“Keep the poor youngster out of your dirty politics and try to focus on your bad jokes,” the boy’s father had also screamed at Kamra. Kamra responded to his tweet by saying the joke isn’t on his son.
