CHANDIGARH: Haryana State Vigilance Bureau has caught a sub divisional officer (SDO) of the State Pollution Control Board red-handed while collecting a bribe of Rs 28,000 in Bhiwani district.

A Pollution Control Board official from Bhiwani has been arrested in a bribery case.

According to a spokeswoman for the bureau, complainant Mukesh of village Mirzapur in Hisar district has accused SDO Mohit Mudgil of soliciting a bribe of Rs 30,000 in exchange for authorization to operate CTO (NOC) of his crasher in Khanak, district Bhiwani.

The complainant contacted the vigilance which planned a trap and nabbed the accused officer red-handed taking Rs 28,000 in cash. The bribe money was also retrieved from the offender, who was then placed into police custody.

A case involving the of Corruption Act was registered against the accused. Further investigation is under way.
