The guest professors claimed that the department was acting vengefully, while the department said that it was just an annual practise.
It was an annual activity, according to Director Dwivedi, and guest faculty would be called back when the new session began.
Ravi Kant Gupta, state secretary of the guest faculty organisation, said that the number of guest professors in 2018 was over one lakh. Every year, the figures are reduced. In the current academic year, 46,640 guest faculty members were hired, reducing their numbers by half.
“Despite the negative circumstances caused by Covid, the administration did not dismiss guest faculties last year. It’s incomprehensible why a government that claims to be interested in job creation is evicting people from their work,” said Ravi Gupta.
Furthermore, the Chhattisgarh High Court has ruled that positions vacated by guest faculty during the department’s yearly exercise should not be considered vacant for another temporary appointment, according to Gupta.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has been urged by the guest faculty association to regularise their services.
