Bus falls off bridge in Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh district The bus fell under a bridge over Siwan River on Saturday afternoon, killing seven passengers and injuring several others, ANI reported.
The bus was on its way to Ranchi “the injured have been treated at various hospitals”. Hazaribagh SP said.
While traveling from Giridih to Ranchi, it lost control and hit the railing of an additional bridge and fell down. Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chothe said that there was no water in the Siwanne area of Tatijharia police station area after the bus.
“Two passengers died on the spot, while four others were taken to Sadar Hospital, Hazaribagh where they died. The seriously injured were treated immediately, the death toll may rise. Preparations are underway to send them to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).”
A DSP rank officer and three police station officials are in charge of the rescue operation, the SP said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the dead and injured in the accident and prayed for the recovery of the injured.
PM writes “Shocked by the loss of life in bus accident in Hazaribagh district of Jharkhand. At this sad time, I am with the bereaved families. Praying for the speedy recovery of the injured,” the PMO wrote on Twitter.
Also on Twitter, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said, “I am saddened by the death of the passengers when the bus fell off the bridge at Tatijhariya. May God rest the souls of the deceased and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this grief. Relief and rescue operations are being carried out by the district administration.
