After a long layoff, Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty Kundra returned to acting with Priyadarshan’s Hungama 2. The film, however, failed to create an impact. The India’s Got Talent judge has been in the spotlight for her personal life controversies in addition to her professional endeavours. Shilpa has been in the news for all the wrong reasons, from her husband Raj Kundra’s arrest in a pornography case to the emergence in 2007 of an obscenity and cheating lawsuit filed against her. The actress now appears to be involved in yet another legal dispute.
Shilpa Shetty Kundra, her sister Shamita Shetty, and their mother Sunanda Shetty have reportedly been summoned by the Andheri magistrate court in Mumbai. They are accused of not repaying a loan of Rs 21 lakh to a business partner . After a FIR was filed against them at the Juhu police station, the trio received summons on Friday. A businessman named Parhad Amra has filed the complaint.
According to ANI, Parhad has accused Shilpa Shetty, her sister Shamita, and her mother Sunanda of not repaying a Rs 21 lakh debt. According to the complaint, Shilpa and Shamita’s father, Surendra Shetty, took out the debt. Shilpa’s father had borrowed the money in 2015, according to Parhad, who is supposedly an automobile agency owner. He allegedly pledged to reimburse the money in January 2017, but the Shettys are now reluctant to do so. Shilpa and her father’s firm, Corgifts, are said to have received the loan.
On February 28, Shilpa, Shamita, and Sunanda Shetty have been summoned to appear by Metropolitan Magistrate R R Khan. The actress has yet to respond to the allegations.
“All payments were made using cheques drawn in favour of Surendra’s firm ‘Corgifts,'” Parhad claimed concerning the purported loan in 2019. Shilpa had issued a statement at the time in response to the remark: “I have never been involved in my late father’s business and have no awareness of the company’s financial dealings. This individual is deceiving the media. All I knew about him was that he was our family’s vehicle mechanic.”
Surendra Shetty, the father of Shilpa Shetty and Shamita Shetty, died in 2016. He died as a result of a heart attack.
