Naba Kisore Das the minister of health for the state of Odisha, was shot at by a deputy sub-inspector on Sunday at around 1 o’clock in the Jharsuguda district’s Gandhi Chowk neighbourhood near Brajarajnagar. He was fired at while en route to a programme, suffering chest wounds from the bullets. The minister was struck by two bullets from the policeman and sent to the hospital in critical condition. According to witnesses, he was later evacuated and taken to the Bhubaneswar.
Around 1 pm, as the minister was en route to a programme, the tragedy occurred in Brajrajnagar town.
The minister was hit by bullets after Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police (ASI) Gopal Das opened fire on him.
The minister was subsequently taken to a hospital,” said Gupteswar Bhoi, the SDPO for Brajrajnagar.
He claimed that the police were given the accused ASI by locals after they had apprehended him.
The reason the ASI opened fire has become the subject of an investigation, according to Bhoi.
