The judgment was delivered shortly after the Islamabad High Court (IHC) overturned the judgment of a sessions court in the maintenance case against Khan in the Toshakhana case, which issued an arrest warrant against Mr. Khan under the Criminal Code.
Earlier, the ECP had forced Khan to step down as Prime Minister of Pakistan on October 21, 2022, on charges of “false statements and misrepresentations”. Later, the Toshakhana issue of the former cricketer-politician selling state gifts became a major issue in national politics.
Toshakhana which is under Cabinet Division. This is the place to store gifts received by other heads of government and foreign dignitaries from rulers and government officials. Khan buys some gifts including a valuable watch and sells the bridge for a huge profit.
