CRPF New Uniform After almost a decade the force has decided to change its combat uniform; However, there is no change in this change for the Army’s other battalion CoBRA, RAF.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has informed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel to get the new combat uniform, the new uniform which will provide more “comfort and durability” to CRPF jawans. Authorities said.

A senior CRPF officer told the media that after receiving feedback from field officers *jawans posting in Jammu and Kashmir, Chhattisgarh and North-East region’ their seniors responded that they were facing problems with combat uniforms.

“The matter was brought to the notice of an officer of the MHA, after which a (CAPF) committee was formed by the Central Armed Police Force. The decision to change the CRPF (uniform) is currently likely to prompt other forces to plan the change as well,” the official said.

About ten years later “the decision to change the CRPF uniform was made in the wake of discussions with the Northern India Textile Research Association and other experts. CRPF’s Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) whose uniforms are already digitally printed, there is no change coming.
Rapid Action Force (RAF) (not changing their uniform).

What are the materials and components in the new CRPF uniform?

All other units have been made comfortable and weather-conscious in this uniform made of new ‘fabric-disruptive polyester and cotton’ with digital print design, comprising 80% cotton and 20% polyester,” an official said.

The new pattern will have “Two Up One Down Twill Weave”. Sleeves “selvage will be firm and straight. The fabric should be well singed and the fabric should be ‘heat set and fully shrunk’. There will be solid coverage and dyeing and amine free inks will be used in printing,” the officer said.

Disrupted-Pattern Uniforms In 2020, the Ministry of Defense and Home Affairs, through the issuance of guidelines, asked the State Police Force and CAPFs not to wear ‘Disrupted-Pattern Uniform’, ‘Combat Uniform’ and not to mention ‘combat uniform’ while performing law and order duties i.e. between the two dresses. There is a difference in the legal aspects of the force.

On February 23, 2020, a video of violent clashes in Jaffrabad, northeast Delhi, showing security personnel wearing combat-pattern uniforms resembling those of the Indian Army, went viral on social media and was posted on Twitter – with rumors that the army had been called in.
